Disability Equality Duty

The Disability Equality Duty was introduced by the government in December 2006. This new law applies to the entire public sector (including hospitals, local and central government, schools and colleges) and its purpose is to ensure that disabled people are treated fairly when they interact with any form of public authority.
The Disability Equality Duty 2006 requires local authorities to have due regard to:
- eliminating discrimination
- promoting equality of opportunity
- eliminating harassment
- encouraging participation by disabled people in public life
- promoting positive attitudes towards disabled people
Payne Security can assist public service organisations to comply with the new regulations by including disability equality into the culture of public authorities in practical and measurable ways.
We are the UK’s leading supplier of ID cards and systems and our new range of secure ID cards includes Braille embossing for the visually impaired. Whether they are used by social services personnel during home visits or by carers in a specialist school for children with disabilities, our ID cards can be easily identified and supplied with a comprehensive range of security features which makes them extremely hard to copy. Our ID cards can also be supplied in large format, making them ideal for taxi licensing or public transport applications, where instant identification is paramount. We can also provide highly visible custom printed lanyards, which can increase your brand awareness also by providing instant identification.
This way, not only will you have made a significant step in implementing the Disability Equality Scheme and Action Plan you are required to put in place, but also you will be providing the necessary duty of care to your employees and members of the public, ensuring both their safety and higher standards of living.
